Students Ankur Moolky and Claire Guo received an Honorable Mention for their project, "The Civic Quarter", in the ARC409 Integrated Design Studio Awards. The project seeks reimagine the traditional senior center as an interior urbanism composed of distinct social neighborhoods rather than a singular institutional hall.
Guo and Moolky undertook the difficult task of designing not one, but four unique building modules to emphasize the resolution of their concept, complete with systems design, structural FEA, and notable construction details. The jury was particularly impressed by the team's ability to balance the design narrative with aesthetic and practical choices in the project.
